Cell Design Intern (Spring/Summer)

Solid Power, Inc. is seeking a Cell Design Intern to join their talented team of engineers and scientists focused on developing next-generation solid-state rechargeable batteries. The intern will support various experiments and data analysis to contribute to the advancement of battery technology.

Responsibilities

Work closely with and under the direction of scientists and engineers to run experiments at the production scale
Support electrode sheet characterization using peel, mandrel, tensile, conductivity, and scanning electron microscopy
Analyze data from electrode sheet characterization and cells to make recommendations for future iterations and/or cell designs
Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team/audience
Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations

Required

Currently pursuing an Engineering, Chemistry, or related degree from an accredited college/university
Experience in an academic or industrial lab environment
Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is required
Availability to work 15-20 hours during the Spring and Summer semester

Preferred

Experience in material characterization techniques (SEM/EDS, potentiostats, etc.) is a plus
Foundation in statistical design (D.O.E.) with relevant software experience a plus
Knowledge of Li-ion battery cell operation, performance, failure modes, testing and validation preferred
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
Experience with Python or Minitab is a plus
