Responsibilities
Lead R&D efforts through all phases of the Design Control process
Direct engineering analyses such as FEA, fatigue analysis, DFMA, FMEA, and DOE
Ensure documentation and processes comply with FDA QMSR (effective Feb 2026) and ISO 13485
Manage NCR investigations, MRB reviews, and root-cause analysis
Oversee the accuracy of DHF, DMR, and GD&T documentation
Drive continuous improvement using field reliability data and customer feedback
Coach, mentor, and supervise the design engineering team
Assign work packages, track progress, and resolve technical challenges
Conduct performance evaluations and manage team development
Support staffing needs, participate in interviews, and assist with onboarding
Approve engineering drawings, specifications, and validation protocols
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience developing medical device products
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (advanced modeling and drawing creation)
Experience with rapid prototyping, mock‑ups, and design validation testing
Strong mechanical intuition and proven problem‑solving abilities
Experience working at a systems level across multiple design groups
Proficiency in CAD design and PDM environments; SolidWorks strongly preferred
Hands‑on engineering skills and ability to work collaboratively
Experience with design input/output requirements and risk analysis
Strong foundation in statics, dynamics, kinematics, strength of materials, stress analysis (FEA), statistics, and DOE
Experience designing plastic components and assemblies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong technical writing skills for documentation and reporting
