Senior Accountant (Hybrid)

Responsibilities
Lead month‑end and year‑end close activities, including preparation and review of complex journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for full-cycle accounting
Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies
Develop and review monthly analytical schedules, account roll‑forwards, lead schedules, reconciliations, and variance analyses to validate account balances and provide meaningful financial insights
Ensure timely and accurate reporting by adhering to internal calendars, close deadlines, and management reporting requirements across multiple business units
Oversee and support Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activities, ensuring proper coding, cut‑off, aging review, and resolution of discrepancies
Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring processes comply with SOX requirements and corporate accounting standards
Serve as a key point of contact during internal and external audits, preparing audit schedules, providing supporting documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries
Research and evaluate new accounting guidance; assist with adoption of new accounting standards and ensure proper interpretation and implementation
Participate in and often lead special projects, including financial system implementations/upgrades, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, reviewing work for accuracy and supporting their development
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals, cross-functional initiatives, and organizational needs
The ability to adhere to Clarest’s Code of Conduct, follow Clarest Compliance policies and procedures, and report any suspected violations of any federal or state laws to either their direct supervisor, Human Resources, or the Compliance Officer
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
3-5 years of experience, public accounting experience preferred
Certified Public Accountant or exam candidate
Understanding of general accounting policies and procedures, and their appropriate application at a transaction level
Advanced ability to disaggregate, analyze, and reconcile complex and consolidated financial data with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring timely and reliable reporting
Demonstrated expertise in synthesizing and managing large volumes of financial information, identifying trends, discrepancies, and process improvement opportunities
Strong proficiency in Microsoft office, including advanced excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling) and professional-level PowerPoint for financial presentations
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
Exhibits the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and confidentiality, especially when handling sensitive financial and personnel information
Self-starter with strong initiative, capable of identifying priorities, anticipating needs, and driving tasks to completion with minimal oversight
Advanced problem-solving skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively, resolve issues proactively, and mitigate potential risks before they escalate
Strong working knowledge of general ledger systems, accounting workflows, and reporting packages, with the ability to optimize processes and enhance accuracy
Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment, managing multiple, shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy and composure under pressure
Highly collaborative team player who works objectively and professionally to achieve shared department and organizational goals
Preferred
Public accounting experience preferred
NetSuite experience is strongly preferred; familiarity with other ERP and financial reporting systems is a plus
