Environmental Health Safety Specialist

Responsibilities

Handle, label, and store hazardous materials and waste in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and RCRA regulations
Prepare and assist with hazardous waste pickups, e-manifests, and drum/container inspections
Ensure proper PPE usage, spill response readiness, and chemical compatibility during handling
Assist in emergency response planning and execution
Receive, inspect, and store raw materials and finished products using forklifts and material handling equipment
Maintain warehouse organization and enforce segregation of incompatible materials
Manage shipping documentation, BOLs, inventory tracking systems, and staging of outbound waste or product
Coordinate with vendors and third-party transporters during deliveries and pickups
Assist in preventive maintenance schedules for safety systems (eyewash, showers, ventilation, extinguishers)
Conduct facility walk-throughs and inspections for hazards, leaks, or unsafe conditions
Support contractors and vendors performing work on-site to ensure compliance with permits and safety protocols
Perform light maintenance or coordinate repairs of equipment, lighting, and building utilities

Qualification

Required

2+ years of experience in chemical operations, hazardous material handling, industrial warehousing, or facility maintenance
Forklift certification (or ability to be certified in-house)
Working knowledge of EPA, RCRA, DOT, and OSHA regulations
Comfortable working in PPE including respirators, Tyvek suits, and chemical gloves
Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills, including use of MS Excel, Word, and inventory software
Ability to work independently while collaborating with EHS and Operations teams

Preferred

HAZWOPER 40 Hour certification (preferred or required within 6 months)
CDL with Hazmat endorsement preferred
