Responsibilities

Design, develop, and enhance applications using COBOL, CICS, ADABAS, VSAM, and IBM JCL
Contribute to complex automated solutions and monitor application performance
Perform unit and system testing to ensure application quality
Review business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
Write technical documentation and complex program code
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to support functional specifications
Analyze, debug, and resolve application defects
Adhere to software development standards for mainframe batch and online processing
Troubleshoot and resolve issues arising during nightly batch processing
Provide schedule estimates, technical projections, and detailed work/action plans
Prepare system problem resolutions and enhancement documentation

Flowcharts, work plans, and system documentation
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively

10+ years of hands-on experience as a COBOL programmer
