Head of Human Resources

Artemis is a rapidly growing residential services company seeking a Head of Human Resources to build and lead the HR business as the company scales. The role involves establishing foundational HR infrastructure, designing scalable hiring processes, and ensuring compliance while supporting leadership and employee development initiatives.

Responsibilities

Build and lead end-to-end talent acquisition for both field operations (technicians, project managers, estimators, supervisors) and corporate roles
Design scalable hiring processes for new market launches, including pre-opening staffing plans and rapid ramp-ups
Develop talent pipelines through trade schools, vocational programs, referral programs, and local market partnerships
Implement succession planning for critical field and leadership roles as the organization scales
Partner with operations leadership to forecast labor needs and align hiring strategy with growth plans
Build the HR function from scratch, including policies, procedures, systems, and documentation
Ensure compliance across all employment requirements, including: I-9 verification and audit readiness, Multi-state employment compliance as new locations are launched, Wage & hour, classification, and recordkeeping requirements
Select and implement core HR systems (HRIS, ATS, onboarding tools) appropriate for a growing, distributed workforce
Establish consistent onboarding processes to ensure compliance, safety, and cultural alignment from day one
Design and roll out standardized onboarding programs for field and corporate employees
Partner with operations to support technical training, certifications, and safety programs relevant to the restoration industry
Build leadership development and training programs for supervisors and managers as internal promotion increases
Support performance management processes that are practical, scalable, and aligned with operational realities
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and managers on employee relations issues
Establish clear communication channels, feedback mechanisms, and engagement initiatives for a dispersed workforce
Help shape and reinforce company culture during rapid growth and geographic expansion
Address employee relations issues with a practical, business-minded approach
Act as a key partner to the CEO and executive team on organizational design, compensation, and workforce strategy
Prepare the people function for future scale, audits, and diligence as the business grows
Support integration of future acquisitions as applicable (policy alignment, onboarding, compliance)

Required

10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
Must have experience working within high-growth, investor-backed businesses
Experience in multi-location businesses, strong preference for specialty trade services but open to all types of businesses (i.e., retail, restaurants, etc.)
Proven experience building an HR function from the ground up in a high-growth environment
Strong background in talent acquisition, particularly for hourly and skilled trade workforces
Deep understanding of employment compliance, including I-9s and multi-state operations
Comfortable operating as a hands-on leader — willing to do the work, not just design it
Practical, business-oriented mindset with the ability to balance structure with speed

Preferred

Experience in PE-backed or sponsor-owned environments strongly preferred
