Responsibilities
Oversee accurate and timely processing of biweekly, weekly and semi-monthly payrolls that include salaried, hourly, tipped, seasonal and union employees in multiple states in the U.S. and Canada
Lead, mentor and professionally develop payroll team members toward the achievement of department, company and personal goals
Strong performance management background, engaging and comfortable addressing employee performance and goal setting
Strong communication with team to maintain team unity and camaraderie
Create and/or process reports to support executive and local management, Human Resources, Benefits, Risk Management and others as needed
Acts as a payroll representative to service providers working with the payroll office
Strong understanding and adherence to internal controls and SOX compliance procedures
Able to apply controls for development of processes and procedures of the department
Communicate and resolve issues for Human Resources, Accounting and other departments as needed
Understanding of Change Management best practices in order to communicate and deliver change to continuously improve departmental deliverables
Maintain high levels of Customer Service including response and resolution, as well as develop processes to improve quality of customer service delivered by the department
Maintain high degree of confidentiality and security of payroll information and data files
Consistently evaluate payroll processes and engage the team to develop and implement improvements on a continuous basis
Manage and ensure timely payroll turnaround times for responses, pay corrections, and reporting
Special projects as needed
Qualification
Required
7 years of payroll experience
3 years in a managerial role
Bachelor Degree
active CPP
Strong performance management background
Strong communication skills
Strong understanding and adherence to internal controls and SOX compliance procedures
Ability to apply controls for development of processes and procedures
Understanding of Change Management best practices
Ability to maintain high levels of Customer Service
Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality and security of payroll information and data files
Ability to consistently evaluate payroll processes and engage the team to develop and implement improvements
Ability to manage and ensure timely payroll turnaround times for responses, pay corrections, and reporting
