Clinical Education and Professional Development Practitioner - Surgical Services (OR/Endo)

Memorial Hermann Health System is dedicated to delivering high quality care and exceptional experiences for its community. They are seeking an experienced Surgical Services Educator to support the Operating Room and Endoscopy departments, focusing on education, onboarding, and ongoing staff development for approximately 300 clinical staff members. The role involves maintaining and enhancing education processes while partnering with leadership to identify learning needs.

Responsibilities

Provide education, onboarding, competencies, and ongoing staff development
Support perioperative clinical practice across OR and Endoscopy
Partner with leadership to identify learning needs
Maintain and enhance existing education processes
Use technology and learning platforms to support education
Performs competency management job functions including needs assessment, gap analysis and monitoring of compliance
Develops and disseminates fundamental educational content/programs utilizing various learning methods/domains
Applies Nursing Professional Development (NPD) scope and standards into practice
Participate in interprofessional collaboration with learners and other stakeholders utilizing effective communication
Demonstrates awareness and understand Evidence Based Projects (EBPs)/research/ quality initiatives
Coaches and provides feedback to preceptors and orientees and assesses orientation progress
Monitors the internal and external environments for opportunities and challenges that may affect professional practice gaps
Facilities learning, change and professional role competence and growth
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a resource to less experienced staff
Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences
Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards of providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and our workforce

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
Registered Nurse (RN) required
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Two (2) years of nursing experience required
Effective oral and written communication skills
2+ years of Operating Room experience
1+ years of education-related experience, such as preceptor, clinical coordinator, assistant nurse manager, or nursing faculty/educator
Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred

One (1) year education related experience preferred
MSN and CNOR preferred
