Quality Inspector

Sterling Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to help ensure products meet safety and quality standards. The role involves performing incoming inspections, documenting defects, supporting production teams, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

Perform incoming inspections on raw materials and components
Identify defects and prevent non-conforming parts from entering production
Investigate quality issues and assist with root cause analysis
Support NCR reviews with the Quality Manager and Engineering Team
Follow all safety procedures and wear proper PPE
Use inspection tools and equipment safely and correctly
Enter electronic reports into the Non-Conformance System
Communicate quality standards with production and engineering teams
Participating in quality meetings
Prioritize inspections to avoid production delays
Track and maintain inspection tools
Monitor calibration status and coordinate recertification
Assist with basic rework and repairs such as tapping holes, deburring, paint touch-ups, and minor material removal
Operate basic shop tools including saws, bead blasters, grinders, and power tools
Identify opportunities to improve inspection and production processes
Participate in internal audits (e.g., 5S self-checks)
Help train cross-functional teams on inspection procedures and quality standards

Qualification

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
Basic computer skills (email, data entry, electronic reporting, remote meetings)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred

Experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or machine building
Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools (CMM experience a plus)
Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality systems
