High School Work-Based Learning Intern: Industrial Maintenance

Shaw Industries is seeking a High School Work-Based Learning Intern in Industrial Maintenance to gain hands-on experience in the manufacturing environment. This internship will provide exposure to mechanical, electrical, and automation systems while working alongside experienced technicians and trainers.

Responsibilities

Work with Shaw Technical Academy trainers to learn and practice technician skills
Assist Shaw Technical Academy on projects related to mechanical, electrical, and automation skills, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment
Support preventive maintenance activities on machinery and automated systems
Learn and apply basic principles of mechatronics, including robotics, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and sensors
Maintain a clean and safe work environment following Shaw Industries’ safety standards
Participate in job shadowing and hands-on training sessions to develop technical skills
Perform general housekeeping tasks to ensure shop safety, including painting, cleaning machinery, etc
Document work performed and report issues to supervisors as needed

Required

Current high school senior enrolled in or having successfully completed a technical or vocational program at a Georgia College & Career Academy (preferred focus: Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field)
Strong interest in mechanical and electrical systems, automation, and manufacturing technology; desire to be a maintenance technician as a profession (post-high school)
Basic computer skills
Self-motivated with good organizational and time management skills
Ability to follow instructions and work safely in an industrial setting
Good communication skills and willingness to learn
Must be at least 17 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S
