They are seeking a highly motivated Permitting Specialist to prepare, submit, and track permit applications for distribution projects while coordinating with local jurisdictions and applying relevant regulations.

Responsibilities
Prepare, submit, and track permit applications for distribution projects (overhead, underground, service upgrades, relocations, pole replacements, etc.)
Coordinate with local jurisdictions, state agencies, environmental authorities, and private landowners to obtain required approvals
Interpret and apply permitting requirements, codes, and regulations relevant to utility construction
Perform field surveys and stakeouts
Acquire necessary permits and State approvals
Input data into the SAP WMS and SmartMap systems, GIS, others and reconcile project completions
Provide alternatives to completing specific projects
Complete preliminary surveying and layouts
Conduct field measurements and/or field survey to produce base plans for engineering design
Utilize computer services as required in surveying and mapping activities
Qualification
Required
2–5+ years of permitting experience, ideally in electric distribution, telecom, gas, or related utility industries
minimum of High School Diploma required
Strong understanding of municipal permitting processes, right-of-way requirements, and construction regulations
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, site plans, and utility maps
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Microsoft Word and Microsoft Project or Equivalent
Must be willing to travel to construction sites on a day-to-day basis, walking site to site, and attend meetings as needed
Must have current US Work authorization and valid US Driver License in good standing
Preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred
Knowledge of GPS Systems preferred
