Senior Audit Manager, Quality Assurance & Professional Practices

Responsibilities
Make a strong and proactive contribution across all core QA and PP activities across the US team, including execution of the Quality Assurance Plan and QA Coverage Strategy that appropriately addresses the GIA Methodology, IIA Standards and regulatory requirements/expectations
Providing a valued, quantitative and qualitative programme of quality assurance on material GIA activities and processes and solution orientated improvement plans
The representative of the Professional Practices to enhance existing approaches, methodologies and toolkits to ensure they remain leading class and current
Ensuring that they consider GIAI’s and Group’s strategy and can form an independent view of whether the key risks in their covered portfolio have been appropriately tested in the audits selected for review
QAPP Partners are expected to remain current with changes in regulatory and other key stakeholders expectations of GIA. Demonstrating a proactive mindset, and always looking for new opportunities to develop
The role holder will work with the PP team to drive improved performance in the function by ensuring the methodology remains fit for purpose and is flexible to meet the changing needs of the audit function
Participate in methodology benchmarking including monitoring external developments, embedding these in our practices to increase efficiency and improve the quality of audit deliverables
Support the continuous improvement/refresh of the GIA Methodology and processes, including preparation and coordination of GIA-wide methodology training
Support the GIA professional practices team to provide quality central support to the US team and as applicable to the wider GIA team on the implementation of the GIA Methodology
Enable smarter auditing through identifying opportunities to shorten audits while remaining focused on key risks
Support the Director PP, in the professional standards / regulatory requirements mapping and annual self-assessments to ensure that the GIA Methodology is in compliance with the IIA Standards, key regulations such as the SR1301 and other obligations
Support engagements between the QAPP and other stakeholders to identify and share best practice relating to the methodology
Support the delivery of actions relating to any external and internal reviews for which the GIA COO function will be responsible for, working closely with stakeholders across the function
Support the review of the annual and ad hoc review of permanent variations to methodology in line with requirements of the GIA Methodology
Help design and monitor the strategy of the QAPP team
Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates
Ensuring flexibility in the QAPP approach to meet the continuingly evolving requirements of internal audit functions
Deliver timely, effective and impactful written and verbal communications with key stakeholders on the progress of QA activity
Coordinate identification of themes, trends and lessons learnt from QA reviews and interactions with PP to support the continuous improvement of GIAI’s processes and control environment
Execute and report upon GIAI quality assurance reviews, identification and reporting of gaps and process improvement activities
Validation the remediation of issues and, as directed, assist in the co-ordination of assurance coverage and review findings to ensure adequate oversight and tracking of remediation
Assist in the information gathering and preparation of the periodic summary reports by QAPP to GIAI senior management and relevant governance forums and audit committees (including reports of the results of internal and external quality assessments and improvement programs)
Assist in the development, implementation and execution of the Quality Assurance & Improvement Programme and GIAI Methodology framework
Assist in the development, administration and maintenance of QA standards, policies and procedures
Assist GIAI AET, the COO team and other GIA staff in preparing for and participating in external assessments conducted by regulators and other third parties
Participate in ongoing assessment processes e.g. GIA strategic projects or operational programs (e.g. guest auditor or graduate programs) as agreed and directed by Group Head of GIA and/or Global Head, QAPP
Execute and report upon special project or ad-hoc work as directed by the Global Head, QAPP. Ability to take the lead on core projects and handle complexity with minimal supervision, as required
Creating and delivering training to support the on-going development of knowledge and skills within GIA
In addition to process related PP responsibilities listed above, support the PP team to manage all changes relating to the Audit system (Execution and issue management) and support the PP team in managing the methodology framework including managing information requests /other requests from stakeholders
Lead by example and build the appropriate culture and values according to Group’s Priorities and Strategy
Establish, develop and maintain close collaboration with key stakeholders to fully embed the GIAI Quality Assurance & Improvement Programme and GIA Methodology
Adopt a flexible approach in supporting other areas within GIAI QAPP to promote effective and efficient allocation of resources
Utilise external and internal networks to leverage and develop insights
Lead on training relating to Audit system and the methodology for new joiners and existing staff, in the US and other teams as applicable
Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to GIAI and the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing GIAI and the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them
Support the Senior Director QAPP and the GIA COO function in maintaining a rigorous risk management framework for the function
Stay informed of the GIAI strategy and coverage, to corroborate compliance with the highest standards of regulatory conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements
Maintain awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group and GIAI operates and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
Embed the Group’s values and Code of Conduct in GIAI QA team to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees’ form part of the culture
Support the PP team in PP related governance reporting
Qualification
Required
Audit or Risk professional with a recognised Audit qualification
7+ years work experience in internal audit, governance or related role
Experience and a demonstrated track record of driving / involvement in change initiatives
Very good understanding of the IIA Standards and key regulatory requirements on Internal Audit functions in the role location (US)
Prior experience in professional practices or a similar function/ role and or with experience / involvement in Internal Audit Methodology review, enhancement, and maintenance (Added advantage)
Experience in training (material development and delivery) an added advantage
Collegial work style with ability to listen and integrate ideas from diverse views, creating partnerships while collaborating with others
Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, presentation, negotiating and relationship management skills
Able to deliver quality work with minimal supervision
