This role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing EH&S programs to ensure compliance with regulations and safeguard employees and the environment.

Responsibilities

Acts as a partner in EH&S by formulating and administering EH&S plans and procedures including EH&S Program Management
Responsibility for multiple EH&S specialties
May perform tasks associated with Health / Safety and Environmental / Compliance
Coordinates with business partners for EH&S concerns regarding facilities and employee practices. May have responsibility for medical at the site
Organizes and maintains EH&S policies to achieve and maintain compliance with regulations
Manages relationships across other specialized departments to achieve and maintain compliance with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements
Owns the execution of the long-term strategy (e.g., more than 3 years) and the operational direction, typically for a business of modest size and scope. or Manages a team of primarily experienced professionals
Focuses on tactical and operational plans with short- to medium-term focus (e.g., less than 1 year to 1 - 2 years)
Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures
Implements initiatives that drive continuous improvements and achieve and maintain compliance with policies and procedures
Conducts in-depth analysis of the portfolio for environmental opportunities to determine environmental compliance
Collaborates with sites to define controls for EHS program to maintain the policies
Assesses EHS impacts and develops/implements programs to reduce risk as well as achieve and maintain compliance. Manages environmental permits and reporting criteria
Establishes and tracks plans to achieve and maintain compliance and to reduce risk
Leads audits of the implementation of the EHS management system at the different factories and service locations
Leads the communication of global EHS initiatives and comprehensive performance to EHS professionals and upper-level management

Required

Bachelor's degree with 12+ years' relative EH&S experience required, or, advanced degree with 10+ years' relative EH&S experience required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Preferred

Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental engineering, Environmental Management, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering
Strong understanding of factory equipment, manufacturing, field safety and EH&S management systems
Adaptable to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy in the organization
Continuous Improvement experience e.g. CORE, Six Sigma, LEAN etc. strongly desired
Strong technical, interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Capable of working with a wide range of people from the site leader to shop floor and of providing team leadership when required to meet highly aggressive goals
Demonstrated knowledge in EH&S regulatory and management systems, including compliance with all local/state/federal regulations regarding air, storm water, wastewater, and hazardous waste
Additional certifications, such as CSP, CIH, P.E. or CHMM, strongly preferred
