General Manager of Radio and News
NEOGOV is seeking a General Manager for Radio and News Operations at Mississippi Public Broadcasting, a state-licensed public media organization. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of radio and news programming, ensuring high-quality broadcasts and digital content that resonate with the community, while fostering innovation and a positive team culture.

Responsibilities
Set and execute the strategic direction for radio and news in alignment with the organization’s mission and growth goals
Work hand-in-hand with the COO and CCO to develop engaging, relevant content across platforms
Inspire and lead diverse teams to create programming that informs, connects, and resonates with audiences
Oversee all radio and newsroom operations, ensuring top-tier quality, efficiency, and compliance with FCC regulations
Supervise and mentor department heads, fostering collaboration between programming, news, and digital teams
Partner with technical staff to maintain reliable broadcast operations and pursue technology upgrades
Safeguard the highest standards of journalistic integrity, accuracy, and fairness
Shape programming and editorial direction to reflect the richness and diversity of our community
Encourage innovative storytelling, audience engagement, and cross-platform integration
Collaborate with the COO and finance team on budgets, resource allocation, and operational priorities
Seek out opportunities for revenue growth through sponsorships, underwriting, and special initiatives
Ensure operational decisions balance budget discipline with creative ambition
Serve as a visible ambassador for the station at community events, conferences, and industry gatherings
Build strong relationships with listeners, donors, community partners, and media peers
Work with development and marketing teams to promote content and support fundraising
Qualification
Required
Proven success managing teams, budgets, and cross-departmental initiatives
Deep understanding of FCC rules, newsroom ethics, and public media principles
Strong strategic planning, decision-making, and communication skills
Comfortable leading in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
7+ years in leadership roles within radio, news, or public media
Preferred
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and seven (7 +) years of experience
