Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end/year-end close
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Manage trust accounting in compliance with applicable bar and regulatory requirements
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management
Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and work with external CPA firms
Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Partner with firm leadership on financial strategy, profitability analysis, and operational improvements
Qualification
Required
Active CPA license (required)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
Strong knowledge of legal accounting, trust accounts, and billing practices
Proficiency with accounting and financial management systems
Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
Preferred
Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred
Experience with legal billing software a plus
