Senior Research Scientist II - PK and Animal Specialist

Responsibilities
Conduct PK and PD studies including study design, execution of various experiments, data collection, and interpretation to meet the needs of the center users
Conduct bioanalysis studies emphasizing in developing and validating UPLC and LC-MS/MS methods to support PK and PD studies
Maintains all CBMHR instruments, develops and implements comprehensive record-keeping and compliance frameworks on program participants, staff, equipment inventories and compliance activities
Serve as a senior scientific resource to RCMI grant leadership, faculty investigators, and research staff, offering expert consultation on experimental design, method development, data analysis, and grant preparation
Prepare and review facility activity reports, including research activity summaries, operational status documents, instrument usage statistics, and program status to the users, university and funding agency
Assist PIs in preparation of progress reports and grant deliverables, ensuring scientific accuracy and timely submission
Publishes data and publications in peer-reviewed journals, presents at conferences, and actively pursues external funding opportunities
Provide advanced training, mentorship, and supervision to undergraduate and graduate students, technical staff, and junior scientists in research skills
Identify opportunities for technological advancement, new service areas, and process improvements
Perform administrative, operational, and scientific duties necessary for the success of the laboratory and research project
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Doctoral degree in biomedical science-related field with experience in PK and PD using small animals
Requires a minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in pharmaceutical laboratory research including PK and PD studies and LC-MS/MS method development
Requires seasoned skills in the job function or professional discipline; performs more complex but expected work for a fully competent incumbent in the function or discipline; demonstrates an understanding of most work routines, rules, procedures and operations; some contact with others, including students, public, visitors and University personnel to provide or obtain explanation or additional information
Biostatistical analysis supporting pharmaceutical research

Requires moderate interpersonal and communication skills to ensure that customer requests or needs are met. Acknowledge and clarifies customer inquiries, requests, or complaints to ensure that needs are identified, documented and addressed
Operating and maintaining instruments; providing service and technical support to internal and external users; providing direct support to the CBMHR leadership, faculty, users and staff members; submitting reports, publishing and presenting data, and applying for funding

Independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations on work procedures, policies and practices. Refers unusual problems to supervisor
Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in PK, PD and LC-MS/MS systems operation
Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment system
Preferred
Published over 5 peer-reviewed publications in the relevant subject topics preferred
