Accounting Manager
WestRock Company is a global leader in sustainable paper and packaging solutions. The Manager, Accounting Rebates and Commissions plays a critical role in supporting the accounting activities within the Record to Report shared services organization, leading a team of accountants and overseeing the accounting processes for customer rebate programs.

Responsibilities
Lead and inspire a team of 13 accountants (on/offshore), from recruitment through all phases of performance management, including coaching and training
Oversee end to end accounting processes of the customer rebate programs for all segments of the business
Responsible for review and provide guidance on the rebates accounting treatment on the customer contractual agreement
Partner with internal / external customers to identify opportunities to standardize rebate accounting processes with a focus on providing excellence value to the business
Manage the overall approval process of the rebate workflow from the divisions to the internal team members, encourage and implement new ideas to reduce manual work
Provide leadership on governing the payment approval, journal entries, account reconciliations and ensuring policy compliance
Oversee the administration of Blackline for a population of Accounting Operations and divisional accounts
Build operating metrics to ensure that all rebate accounting processes are in compliance with the deadlines and reviewed for accuracy and completeness
Foster a strong customer service culture where continuous improvement is the foundation. Develop collaborative relationships with our external and internal business partners to ensure feedback and issues are addressed timely
Partner with Performance Excellence teams to drive process improvement using the principles of Six Sigma
Comply with SOX controls and GAAP to ensure a solid internal control environment
Accountable for the internal and external audit requests within the team
Responsible for developing the strategy and executing the integration of acquired businesses into the accounting team
Other projects and initiatives to support the company’s strategy
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited university
7+ years of progressively more complex roles in accounting, preferably within a shared service and large company environment
Experienced and comfortable leading, developing and motivating large teams
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and experience leading process improvement initiatives
System savvy – able to pull and manipulate data for a variety of purposes in a complex systems landscape
Customer service / continuous improvement mindset
Strong problem-solving skills – listening, compiling facts and building consensus to bring conclusion to issues
Strong project and change management skills, preferably experience implementing shared services
Must be flexible and adaptable and able to perform in a rapidly changing environment
Preferred
MBA and/or CPA is desired
Experience with JD Edwards, Blackline, QlikView, Hyperion, and ServiceNow would be ideal
