Associate Producer- Temporary
New York Public Radio is seeking an early-career journalist to join their Digital News & Audience team as a Temporary Associate Producer. This role focuses on supporting local journalism across platforms, with an emphasis on digital production and audience engagement.

Responsibilities
Support the digital production of WNYC’s local shows by writing, editing, and publishing web and social content that reflects the newsroom’s reporting and on-air conversations
Pitch digital-first story ideas and audience engagement concepts tied to daily news coverage and show programming
Collaborate with producers and editors to prepare digital content that extends reporting beyond the broadcast, including newsletters, social posts, and short-form video
Help research, write, and assemble newsletters, including The Brian Lehrer Show newsletter and other show-related email products, under the direction of editors
Assist with gathering, selecting, and organizing listener questions, responses, and other audience contributions for use across platforms
Produce and edit basic digital assets, including social posts and short videos, in collaboration with the Digital News & Audience team
Participate in editorial meetings and contribute ideas about framing, headlines, presentation, and audience utility
Support organization-wide digital projects as assigned and work collaboratively with colleagues across the newsroom
Qualification
Required
Some professional or educational experience in journalism, such as a degree program, certificate program, internship, or student media experience
Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly and accurately on deadline
Interest in local news and issues affecting New York City and the surrounding region
Curiosity about how journalism is produced and presented across platforms
Ability to manage multiple assignments and collaborate effectively with editors, producers, and peers
Commitment to accurate, ethical, and inclusive journalism
Preferred
Familiarity with social media, content management systems, or basic video editing tools is helpful but not required
