The N.C. Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Safety Consultant I to manage the Construction Apprenticeship Program's safety initiatives. Responsibilities

Manage the CAP safety program development, administration, and training for all personnel
Conduct training for forklift operation, hazardous materials, hazard assessments, and other safety topics
Conduct monthly on-site safety inspections and provide written reports for all active construction project sites
Provide technical expertise and code interpretation of safety standards and regulations
Administer OSHA 300 logs for recordable offender injuries and illnesses
Conduct all 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA Construction Industry Awareness Training and issue Competent Person certifications

Required

Bachelor's degree with a major in safety engineering, industrial engineering, industrial management or technology, occupational safety, or one of the physical sciences or an equivalent technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution
Minimum of three years of progressive occupational and safety and health experience
Demonstrated experience with OSHA, NFPA, NEC standards for General Industry and Construction
Demonstrated experience with federal and state standard practices, materials, and processes of construction site safety
Demonstrated experience with general industry and construction safety programs on residential, commercial, or institutional construction projects
Certified to conduct OSHA 10-Hour AND/OR 30-Hour Construction and General Industry Awareness Training
Efficient decision-making capabilities
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Effective communication skills
