Research Technician
Texas A&M University is one of the fastest-growing academic health centers in the nation, and they are seeking a Research Technician I to perform entry level, semi-skilled, technical support research work. The role involves assisting with epilepsy and TBI research, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supporting senior staff in conducting field experiments.

Responsibilities
Assembles and operates technical equipment
Sets-up and maintains equipment for the assigned laboratory and updates laboratory computers
Maintains inventory and orders parts and supplies as needed
Maintains laboratories according to Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) specifications
Provides logistical support with computers in the laboratory
Performs laboratory and prep room cleanup
Assists senior staff members in conducting major field experiments and consults in developing procedures
Assists with the participant (subject) pool by recruiting, screening, and maintaining records on research participants
Assists undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects
Assist and perform epilepsy and TBI research with laboratory methods and techniques, carrying out procedures, and recording data in the lab
Assist and perform data collection procedures involving brain signals. Assist with neuroscience data compilation, archiving and analysis. Assist and perform experiments procedures involving brain EEG recording. Assist with neuroscience EEG analysis studies
Assist in performing technical operations relevant to specialized electrodes and EEG tools. Assist personnel involved in a series of brain section studies. Assists and performs pharmacological studies and data compilation in the lab
Coordinate lab compliance and materials for research projects
Order and maintain scientific supplies and equipment
Prepare and maintain record and lab protocols
Make record of neural observations and EEG monitoring
Assist and edit for scientific manuscripts
Coordinate work progress with campus and external collaborators
Participates in training and professional development sessions as needed
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of laboratory, research, or related experience
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in biological or biomedical sciences or neuroscience
Knowledge of TBI and epilepsy, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working experience in a neuroscience EEG research lab; knowledge of advanced brain EEG software; experimental neural techniques and analysis; behavioral studies and interpretation; stereology and histology knowledge; pharmacological studies and data compilation experience in a research lab
Knowledge of data analytics, lab equipment, EEG, and computer systems
Ability to help research staff with advancing analytical studies and support with the neural signal techniques
Ability to read, analyze and interpret EEG, analysis and pattern formations
Ability to organize, conduct and report pharmacological studies and experiments
Experience working with EEG studies, data compilation and analysis
Ability to read temporo-spatial progression of seizures, and behavioral patterns
