Accounting Supervisor
Southside Electric Cooperative is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Supervisor to lead our accounting team in delivering accurate financial reporting and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role is critical in maintaining the financial health of the Cooperative and supporting its mission to provide safe, reliable, and affordable power solutions to its members.

Responsibilities
Supervise accounting team employees, conduct performance appraisals, recommend salary increases, train, assign work to, and review work of employees
Supervise all accounting procedures for the Cooperative
Supervise the preparation of financial statements and other monthly reports
Oversee financial related filing requirements
Prepare governmental reports that are developed from the Cooperative's operations
Provide statistical reports to other departments as needed
Coordinate and oversee the preparation for all accounting related audits (i.e., annual financial, sales tax, RUS work plan, etc.)
Review subsidiary ledgers and assist with balancing general ledger accounts
Ensure employees receive developmental training and cross-training to maintain high level performance throughout the department
Maintain cash flow by monitoring bank balances and reconciling cash accounts daily
Maintain an educational knowledge that will allow the Cooperative's accounting department to function at a high and efficient level at all times
Qualification
Required
Ability to analyze and solve problems
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Solid knowledge of accounting principles specific to electric utilities
Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to accuracy and accountability
Highly organized with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of NISC's iVUE Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and Payroll/Labor
Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
Supervisory experience in an accounting environment is required
Preferred
CPA license and experience in public accounting highly preferred
Five years' experience with a rural electric cooperative and RUS accounting and work order procedures preferred
Federal emergency relief filing experience preferred
Residency within 60 minutes legal driving time to our headquarters office in Crewe, VA
