Multiple Myyeloma Data Analyst

Responsibilities
Analyze data, prepare and present reports, and execute tasks under the purview of the Quality Manager, Practice Administrator, and Malignant Hematology Medical Director
Abstract clinical data
Participate in the evaluation, maintenance, and modifications of the clinical outcomes database
Generate, analyze standardized reports on patient treatments, toxicity, and outcomes; respond to requests for information regarding BMT patients; and participate in collecting follow-up information from outside sources
Comply with institutional, regulatory and federal regulations
Work closely with the Quality Manager and with other managers on projects designed to improve effectiveness or efficiency in data accuracy, efficiency in operations, and participate in the development of benchmarks to better oversee the entire quality aspects of the data collected by the BMT unit in the division
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and is committed to the values of the program
Abstract, trend and analyze clinical data from the electronic medical record for data submission to the Center of International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) and other outside repositories
Collect and synthesize data to monitor quality benchmarks, create and present reports and audits, and share these findings at a Quality Management Compliance Committee (QMCC) and other meetings
Utilize findings to participate in short and long term planning and collaborate in the development of strategies to work towards achieving the set goals and metrics of the BMT quality program
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in related area and one or more years of relevant experience and / or equivalent experience / training
Working knowledge of research function
Working skills in analysis and consultation
Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures
Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing
Good communication skills; both verbal and written. Must be a clear and concise communicator
Excellent interpersonal skills, including but not limited to: problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership, mentorship. Works well with others to achieve common goals. Ability to cultivate relationships with multiple stakeholders at various levels of administration
Effectively uses medical center's clinical information and documentation application programs, including but not limited to EPIC (APEX), OnCore, FileMaker Pro, and other data management systems. Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software
Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality of protected health information. Compliance and knowledge of HIPAA privacy laws
Preferred
At least 2 years of experience with data management
At least one year of experience in project/program coordination, either at UCSF or at another academic or research institution
Knowledge of CIBMTR reporting, data abstraction, and quality data submission
Knowledge of medical/oncology processes and terminology, experience and knowledge of IRB policy and procedure, background in science/medicine; preferably in hematology/oncology
Prior experience in clinical research in various areas of oncology, or lab based research
