Responsibilities

Serves as a domain S&MA expert in the NASA spaceflight community
Represents an authoritative source of information in one or more S&MA disciplines with vast application of experience specifically in a spaceflight and/or ground systems environment
Provides expertise, guidance, consultation, facilitation, and thoughtful leadership to GSFC based on in-depth knowledge of a particular area in such fields as engineering and technology, policy and planning, across key tasks, and high impact assignments to arrive at recommended solutions
Provides expertise in areas such as System Safety, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical, Propulsion, etc. as necessary to support GSFC flight projects
Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and controls projects; designs and conducts program/project evaluations; and develops and implements new systems of assessing program issues/services
Analyzes and/or researches complex data associated with programs and/or projects
Evaluates performance results and recommends changes affecting project growth and success
In conjunction with the NASA customer, determines optimal approach for maximizing impact of their discipline into GSFC missions and projects
Interfaces with senior engineering and specialized engineering staff
Develops and delivers presentations in meetings and formal reviews
Assists with task management functions

Required

Must possess a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or major Science
20+ years of relevant experience
Must be able to qualify for an unescorted badge (US Citizen required) and be able to pass a background investigation & drug test
Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers
Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) <10%
Requires sitting for periods of time at a workstation/ desk and / work in operational processing areas
Ability to lift >15 lbs
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement
Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others
