Senior Accountant
Switchyards is the world’s first neighborhood work club, seeking a Senior Accountant to connect business operations to financial data. This pivotal role involves improving accounting processes, managing financial reporting, and ensuring accurate transaction coding and reconciliations.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for employees and accounts payable vendors
Leverage understanding and insights gained through internal and external conversations to translate business activities into accurate accounting treatments
Gain a deep understanding of our existing processes and develop v2 processes, workflows, and templates that will deliver value to the organization over time
This includes, but is not limited to, the month end close process, accounts payable, requisitions, financial reporting, budgeting, and specialized accounting treatments
Review the work of our outsourced accounting team
You will provide the first line of defense in transaction coding and reconciliation accuracy - ensuring that expenses and capital outlays are accurately coded to the correct club and department
Take ownership of the general ledger
You will document SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to ensure that institutional knowledge stays within the company and assist with the month/year-end accounting closes via detailed P&L reviews and ensuring all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and supported by clear documentation
Research and implement accounting treatments for one-off or complex transactions (e.g., debt instruments, revenue recognition, etc.)
Qualification
Required
3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
Solid understanding of GAAP, specifically revenue recognition, fixed asset accounting, and lease accounting
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) or similar accounting software, specifically in a multi-entity/multi-location environment
Advanced proficiency in Excel (data clean-up & analysis, pivot tables, and financial modeling), and familiarity with Ramp or similar expense management tools
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Proven ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and remote/outsourced teams
Preferred
Public accounting or high-growth startup experience is a major plus
Financial planning and analysis experience
Experience with multi-unit accounting, brick and mortar businesses, and/or consumer subscription revenue models
