Clinical Engineer System Integration
SoTalent is seeking an experienced professional to serve as a key technical authority on medical devices and integrated clinical systems. This role acts as a central resource for clinical teams, internal engineering staff, and external vendors, providing expert guidance across the full lifecycle of medical technologies.
Responsibilities
Acts as the primary technical expert for medical equipment and integrated clinical systems, supporting clinicians, vendors, and engineering teams
Leads the evaluation, planning, acquisition, installation, and ongoing support of medical hardware, software, firmware, and associated networking components
Troubleshoots complex system issues, manages downtime response, escalates vendor‑related concerns, and assists in analyzing recall notifications or incident investigations
Maintains a comprehensive and current inventory of all supported devices and systems, including detailed documentation of technical specifications, integrations, and configurations
Oversees multiple concurrent technology projects involving varied teams, timelines, and resource needs
Continuously monitors industry trends and organizational standards related to medical system safety, regulatory expectations, risk assessments, change management, and incident root‑cause analysis
Manages a steady flow of service requests, determining appropriate prioritization, escalation, and delegation
Participates in an on‑call rotation to provide 24/7 support for urgent medical system issues and downtime events
Provides daily technical leadership and workflow guidance to assigned team members, including task scheduling and review of system workflows, projects, and operational activities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field — or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
4–7 years of hands‑on experience administering and configuring medical technology systems
4–7 years of experience implementing and supporting clinical software applications
4–7 years of experience working with SQL Server databases
4–7 years of experience supporting HL7 interface engines
Preferred
Certifications related to Healthcare Technology Management or Information Technology are highly preferred
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Solid knowledge of healthcare technology operations, IT principles, project management, and continuous improvement practices
Proficiency with Windows, macOS, Linux, HL7, XML, Java, SQL, DICOM, and EMR platforms such as Epic
Broad understanding of various medical systems such as patient monitoring, nurse call solutions, infusion technologies, cardiology systems, imaging workflows, operating room integrations, and CMMS tools
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including leadership, teamwork, adaptability, time management, and accountability
Proven experience in system development and managing full project lifecycles
Prior involvement with enterprise‑level hospital application suites
Working knowledge of HL7 standards and custom integration tools
Solid understanding of networking concepts including WAN, LAN, TCP/IP, and Ethernet
