Production Engineer

American Plastics, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative plastic-injection molded products. They are searching for an entry level Production Engineer for their Jefferson City, MO location, responsible for maintaining product quality, optimizing plant operations, and implementing improvements in production methods.

Responsibilities

Maintain & enforce product quality inspection and testing requirements
Optimize plant operations to meet plant and business goals in asset capability, quality, and budget/cost
Identify areas of opportunity and implement changes in production methods for new and existing processes; facility layouts; production flow and equipment; new product testing; and packaging and shipping, in order to reduce cost, increase efficiency and improve quality
Develop and drive initiatives aimed at improvements to productivity and first-pass yield
Develop programs/methods to optimize producibility and reduce cycle time
Quality Control experience with the ability to investigate non-conforming materials, in-process or finished goods failures and field returns and report on these areas
Write non-conforming material reports, Process/Product change notification, manufacturing procedures, and work instructions
Attain a full understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures with the ability to translate them to implementation in the plant
Lead operations’ drive to zero (zero injuries and zero unplanned events)
Lead and participate in Root Cause Investigations for unplanned events

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering
Strong communication and leadership skills required
A team player with the ability to interact effectively will all levels of organization
At least 18 years of age
Eligible to work in the United States of America
Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen & Authorize Background Check

Preferred

Two years' experience in a production engineering role preferred; internship experience may qualify
Practical experience troubleshooting manufacturing problems and implementing sustainable corrective actions, combined with strong process orientation, and solid knowledge of manufacturing, including strong systems and component level experience
Some supervisory or management experience a plus
