Manager for Residential Programs and Operations
The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Manager for Residential Programs and Operations for University Housing and Dining (UHD). This role is critical in supporting operational systems, program processes, and assessment initiatives to enhance the residential experience for students and staff.
Responsibilities
Streamline and manage departmental processes to ensure consistency and efficiency across residential areas. Manage departmental resources and staff-facing documentation, including FLS records, uniforms, fall closing, spring opening/closing, operational databases, manuals, and policies, ensuring materials are current and effectively support staff and program operations
Oversee administrative operations and logistical support for staff and residential programs, ensuring smooth and consistent execution of departmental processes. Collaborate with leadership to create procedures and operational goals that support the Residential Engagement model. Promote operational excellence through clear communication, documentation, and staff training. Serve on departmental and divisional committees to enhance residential experience and operational alignment. Develop and monitor timelines for major operational projects to ensure deadlines are met and processes run efficiently
Lead assessment initiatives to measure student engagement, program effectiveness, and staff experience. Lead the administration and analysis of the annual learning and outcomes survey to evaluate the residential student experience and contribute to the development of comprehensive assessment reports. Design and implement additional means of data collection and assessment to support data driven decision making and storytelling. Implement training pre/post surveys and focus groups for students and staff. Track data and create reports related to operational processes and the residential experience. Generate and distribute reports regarding the residential experience. Present findings using data visualization and storytelling to inform leadership, staff, and stakeholders. Partner with marketing to share the impact of residential engagement initiatives and highlight outcomes
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate two Graduate Assistants. Provide training and coaching for staff on assessment, operational processes, and program implementation. Advise staff on using results from assessment to enhance the residential experience. Support staff-wide training, recognition, and professional development initiatives. FLS records, uniforms, operational databases, manuals, and policies
Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of residential engagement initiatives that foster community, learning, and connection. Integrate technology and digital platforms to enhance student engagement and connectivity. Collaborate with campus partners to integrate academic and co-curricular initiatives into residential communities. Research and recommend community-building strategies that support all residential populations. Serve as a visible advocate for residential engagement, using storytelling and communication to highlight program impact and student success. Facilitate trainings and presentations for residence life staff
Partner with Marketing and Communications staff to assist in building awareness of the Residential Engagement Model. Partner with Marketing to implement best practices for promoting residential programs and events. Support the creation of flyers, digital content, and communications to engage students effectively. Monitor engagement trends to inform outreach strategies. Coordinate branding efforts to strengthen connection to the Residential Experience
Participate in strategic planning and special projects that advance University Housing and Dining goals. Support any Residence Life planning committee that contributes to the planning of team meetings and the development of content that supports staff engagement and departmental initiatives. Stay informed on higher education trends, operational innovations, and assessment practices to enhance engagement and staff success. Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
At least 3 years of experience in supervisory/manager capacity
Preferred
Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field
6 or more years of professional experience in residence life, housing operations, or related functional areas
3 or more years of experience supervising residence life, housing operations, or related staff
Experience working in program operations, residential operations, or with residential engagement models
Experience leading assessment initiatives and presenting data-driven reports to leadership
Experience with housing or assessment management systems, survey tools, and digital communication platforms
Ability to manage multiple priorities, streamline systems, and use data to inform decisions
Strong organizational, communication, and data storytelling skills
