Project Architect/Designer
HBX Studio is seeking a mid-level to senior architectural or interior designer who can take full ownership of projects from start to finish. The role requires strong independent self-management and involves developing design and technical solutions, leading production of drawings, and coordinating with consultants.
Responsibilities
Take primary responsibility for assigned projects, from early design and documentation through construction completion
Develop design and technical solutions appropriate to the project, in collaboration with clients and internal team members
Lead production of drawings and specifications with a focus on clarity, coordination, and constructibility
Coordinate with consultants and integrate their work into a coherent, complete set of documents
Communicate clearly and consistently with clients, consultants, and the internal project team
Interpret and apply building codes and standards to ensure compliance across interior and exterior scope
Support construction administration efforts, including RFIs, submittals, and field conditions
Identify gaps, risks, or coordination issues early and address them proactively
Contribute to improving internal standards, workflows, and documentation quality
Mentor junior staff through clear feedback, redlines, and example—not micromanagement
Participate in design discussions, reviews, and critiques where appropriate
Support business development efforts as needed, including proposals, interviews, and presentations
Qualification
Required
5–10 years of professional experience in architecture or interior design on commercial, institutional, or public-sector projects
Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Interior Architecture (or equivalent professional experience)

Strong technical foundation, including documentation, detailing, and coordination across disciplines
Fluency in Revit; comfort producing and managing full drawing sets
Working knowledge of applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and industry standards
Understanding of project constraints including scope, schedule, and budget—and the judgment to make decisions within them
Ability to manage your own time, priorities, and deliverables with minimal oversight
