Responsibilities
Collect field data via GPS equipment from clients and through observation
Primary Address data collection resource and point of contact
Assist Public Works with the naming and mapping of roads
Develop customs and standard maps
Prep maps for implementation
Convert data collected from field operations into a GIS database with proper and accurate spatial location
Interpret aerial photography or imagery
Analyze GIS data to identify spatial relationships and/or display analysis results using maps, graphs, or tabular data
Enter data into GIS databases, using techniques such as coordinate geometry, keyboard entry of tabular data, manual digitizing of maps, scanning or automatic conversion to vectors, or conversion of other sources of digital data
Maintain or modify existing GIS databases
Review existing or incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation
Assure consistency with county-wide standards and practices for data conversion, data maintenance, and upgrades
Provide technical support within the company to users regarding the maintenance, development, or operation of GIS databases, equipment, or applications
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during business
Give continuing and meticulous attention to detail
Provide input and occasionally present at the San Juan County GIS Users’ Group
Work with the highest ethical standards, under RCW 42.23.020-070, 42.17.310 and the San Juan County Personnel Rules, providing courteous and timely service
Acting within the scope of their responsibilities, work as a public employee and municipal officer with courtesy and professionalism, adhering to the highest standard of ethics in accordance with RCW 42.52
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in geographic information systems, cartography, computer science, or a related field
2 Years of experience using ESRI ArcGIS software products
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in geographic information systems, cartography, computer science, or a related field
GIS certification is a plus
Experience using ESRI ArcGIS software products
Experience scripting in Python and ModelBuilder
