Responsibilities
Supervises the Radiological Department in their daily activities. Determines work priorities, reviews work, and evaluates performance
Approves employee leave requests, ensuring adequate staffing levels
Provides instruction and training to technicians. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the duty assignments of Radiological staff. Reviews quality of work of other technologists
Confers with contract Radiologist, Medical Director and other Radiological Technicians concerning the functioning of the radiological unit, identifying problem areas, improving efficiency, and cost effectiveness while developing solutions where necessary
Supervises the recording and storage of all radiographs and reports
Requisitions all supplies for the department, assures that inventory is adequate at all times, receives and accounts for the utilization of supplies
Approves and prints radiologist’s report. Verifies quality and quantity of x-rays produced
Work with adult male inmates of all custody levels – minimum, medium, maximum (death row) and protective custody
Will supervise maximum-security inmates and lower level Radiological Technicians
Qualification
Required
Possession of a current Louisiana Radiologic Technologist license or temporary permit plus three years of experience as a licensed radiologic technologist
