Project Coordinator Traffic Operations- Public Works
NEOGOV is seeking a Project Coordinator for Traffic Operations within the Public Works Department of the City of Port St. Lucie. The role involves monitoring and coordinating the maintenance and construction of traffic management systems while ensuring compliance with standards and specifications. The coordinator will also manage traffic operation projects and serve as a liaison between various stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Keeps the mission, vision, and values of the City of Port St. Lucie at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives; maintains high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations
Inspects and identifies deficiencies in roadway striping and signage
Requests, reviews, and processes quotes for various traffic related projects including but not limited to roadway striping and signage, traffic signalization, traffic management systems, roadway lighting and pedestrian safety systems
Reviews and interprets plans. Ensures the contractor’s adherence to approved Standards, Specifications, and design plans. Interprets blueprints and specifications and discusses deviations from the specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction. Attends pre-construction and progress meetings as projects are assigned
Observes and inspects construction work in progress
Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions and quantities for roadway striping enhancements and sign installations
Inspects, monitors, and responds to traffic condition complaints by means of traffic monitoring systems or field visits
Responsible for the inspection of roadway striping, marking, and signage projects
Coordinates the collection of pedestrian and vehicular traffic pattern data for verification and design purposes
Prepares field sketches as needed. May prepare sketches of traffic control device installations that deviate from approved construction plans and reports such changes for incorporation on as-builts
Develops and maintains project management and monitoring records for each project and formulates written and oral progress reports
Develops projects from conception through research to development, adoption, design, and construction
Coordinates the design and review of projects including, traffic pattern reconfiguration, roadway sign replacement, sidewalk lighting enhancements, and roadway lighting enhancements. Prepares oral and written presentations of projects
Makes field checks, prepares reports, maintains records, prepares quantity take-offs, reviews contractors’ pay requests. Computes monthly estimates of work completed
Maintains daily log of various traffic management system status reports, as well as updating monthly reports on projects
Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and approves installation
Serves as liaison between City Departments, the public, developers, contractors, and other regulatory agencies with regards to City projects
Investigates and attempts to settle complaints arising from assigned City projects, and resident requests for service
Coordinates the tracking, review, processing, and approval of digital (utilizing Bluebeam software) plans for the various utilities such as BellSouth, Comcast, City Gas, FPL, etc
Coordinates the creation, review and approval of signal and multiway stop warrant studies
Communicates and provides direction and updates to various City Departments during emergency on-call situations
Assists in the management of research, design, contract management and construction of assigned projects
Responsible for the management of assigned Traffic Operations projects including administration of contract, review of pay requests, cost estimates change orders, schedules
Updates Project Tracker with project information
May be required to work hours other than standard day shift
Works during emergency situations as required
Other duties as may be assigned
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma required
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of construction and inspection required
Experience in signage, pavement marking, traffic signal and fiberoptic construction inspection is required
Possession of valid driver's license and maintenance of clean driving record required with the ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days from date of hire
IMSA Traffic Signal One Certification (or equivalent) is required
IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Certification (or equivalent) is required
IMSA Signs and Markings I Certification (or equivalent) is required
IMSA Fiber Optics 123 (or equivalent) is required or ability to obtain it within twelve (12) months from date of hire
FDOT approved Intermediate Work Zone Safety Certification is required
FDOT approved Advanced Work Zone Safety Certification is required or ability to obtain it within twelve (12) months from date of hire
