Director of Finance

Stewart & Tate Construction is seeking a Director of Finance to lead their finance function and provide comprehensive financial leadership for the Construction Group. The role involves overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and supporting treasury management and M&A activities.

Responsibilities

Provides support and counsel on financial and business matters to Stewart & Tate’s operating leaders and executive team
Ensures optimum performance of the finance function and works with the finance and business teams to identify and implement initiatives to improve overall business effectiveness and profitability
Oversees the preparation and evaluation of financial statements, budgets, business/operational analysis, forecasts, and business case analyses for Stewart & Tate
Provides leadership and coordinates year-end Audit/Review, tax return preparation, and R&D analysis
Prepares quarterly performance reports for the BOD of the Stewart Companies
Oversees consolidation of Stewart & Tate Inc.’s financial results on a quarterly basis
Establishes and maintains Stewart & Tate’s accounting principles, practices, controls, and procedures and ensures alignment with company policies/processes
Ensures that effective operating cost and expense control is established and that tools are in place to manage and control expenses and spending
Completes assessments of operating performance to budget, forecast, and prior year results, and other financial operating reports as needed
Provides leadership and maintains Stewart & Tate’s compliance environment
Participates in the strategic development and ongoing management of the Stewart & Tate’s treasury, banking, and insurance programs

Required

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and a minimum of 10-15 years of directly relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Must be a strong developer of talent and must be able to appropriately delegate and manage the performance of a team of direct reports
Knowledge of US GAAP Accounting Principles, procedures, and policies is required
Must have superior analytical skills and attention to detail combined with a strong business acumen
Must have experience in financial reporting and analysis, and financial planning, as well as an understanding of financial modeling techniques
Strong interpersonal, leadership and relationship-building skills are required
Must have the ability to effectively lead initiatives and drive projects to conclusion through strong project management skills
Must possess a high level of integrity, transparency, and accountability
Must be able to effectively present information to executives and shareholders

Preferred

CPA or CMA designation is preferred but not required
Experience within the construction industry is preferred
Experience managing banking relationships and financing arrangements is preferred
