ITS Accounts Analyst (Grade 9)

Responsibilities
Performs specialized governmental fund accounting work of moderate difficulty for a department, including work with the county budget systems, and the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports for the department
Performs administrative/office support duties; receives, sorts, indexes, files and retrieves forms, correspondence and documents; reviews and verifies documents for validity and accuracy of information; responds, formats, composes, proofreads, edits and types of agendas, memorandums, letters, forms and correspondence; operates a variety of office machines/equipment; develops and maintains accounting systems for the department to assist in preparation of budgets, funds, and grants; provides accounting support to Information Technology Services divisions; creates and monitors Requisitions and Purchase Orders; prepares Journal Entries; reviews, prepares and analyzes departmental fund accounting systems, practices and procedures
Responsible for the preparation of the deposit of departmental revenues, audits, and makes revenue reports; conducts audit of all credit card accounts; responsible for the preparation of demands for payments including contracts, vendors, and insurance; prepares various financial statements and reports; assists with the development of long-and short-range financial forecasts as required; performs a variety of financial analysis related to general government operation including, but not limited to cost accounting, cost allocation, requisition and indirect cost allocation; provides accounting advice and assistance to department management; responsible for submitting assessment orders, verifies the completeness of incoming shipments and reconciles discrepancies; verifies payments, reconciles accounts and discrepancies; manages Capital Asset Activity Report (CAAR) for IT related equipment and software; reviews and process employee registrations for training classes; coordinates travel arrangements; provides employee notifications of all travel arrangements; reconcile travel upon return; prepares and processes confidential and sensitive documents; may assists with the development and implementation of procedures, protocols, and processes to increase efficiency or streamline operations within the department.; assists with departmental activities/events, special assignments and/or projects; responsible for delivery and pick up of inter-department mail
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or closely related field
two (2) years of experience in financial accounting/auditing preferably in a government environment
equivalent combination of education and experience
must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license
requires successful completion of a background check
Knowledge of County policies and procedures
principles, theories, practices and concepts of accounting including cost accounting, governmental accounting, enterprise accounting, accounting analysis procedures, fiscal administration and budgetary practices
applications of data processing techniques to accounting systems such as electronic spreadsheet, word processing and graphics
Skill in reviewing, preparing and analyzing accounting practices in accordance with varying regulations and reporting requirements
auditing and interpreting accounting records, financial statements, computer printouts and reports for completeness and accuracy
gathering and analyzing appropriate relevant data
communicating clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, elected officials, other agencies, and the public
using and staying current with word processing and spreadsheet software
performing and verifying mathematical computation with accuracy
computerized spreadsheets

Benefits
The employee is able to select from three (3) medical plan options with six (6) tiers that will best suit the employee's needs, dependents or families.

The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
