The Department of the Navy is seeking a Supervisory Environmental Engineer/Natural Resources Specialist/Physical Scientist. The role involves providing guidance to employees, overseeing environmental compliance, and implementing environmental protection programs at FEC regional installations.

Responsibilities

You will provide advice, counsel, or guidance to employees on both work and administrative matters
You will review work of employees during progress or upon completion of tasks and takes or recommends appropriate actions, as necessary
You will be responsible for planning, development and implementation of a broad environmental protection program and ensuring environmental compliance in all environmental media for FEC regional installations that comprise the installation command
You will act as the Environmental Management Systems Representative to the ICO and is responsible for implementing the installation's EMS

Required

Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
This is an overseas position. You will be subject to and must be able to satisfy the overseas requirements
This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States
If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport
May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations
You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics
If the position is filled as an Environmental Professional Engineer (PE), registration is REQUIRED
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector responsible for implementing environmental policy and providing environmental program management support to include environmental compliance, conservation, and or services
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a degree in Engineering
The program must lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET
The program must include differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, (b) dynamics, (c) strength of materials, (d) fluid mechanics, (e) thermodynamics, (f) electrical fields and circuits, (g) nature and properties of materials
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering
Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering
