Responsibilities
Be an active member of an Enterprise Data Warehouse team focused in building canonical/domain modeling, dimensional modeling, and semantic modeling
Work with retail data, ensuring effective communication of objectives, plans, status, issues and risks in a timely manner to team members, stakeholders, and management
Review data structures and integration designs to ensure scalability, performance, and data integrity
Collaborate with ETL and pipeline developers to align data ingestion and transformation logic with established data models
Optimize data models for query performance, scalability, and maintainability
Maintain data model documentation, metadata, and data dictionaries
Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to enterprise data strategy
Create solutions utilizing industry-standard dimensional models and data architecture to support business users that include data scientists, analysts, and non-technical functional users
Communicates clearly promptly in both verbal and written communication with other Software & Database Development Engineers
Participate in peer reviews, design sessions, and model walkthroughs to validate design choices
Collaborate with business analysts, subject matter experts, and other team members to determine data extraction and transformation requirements
Qualification
Required
Experience working in the retail data domain is required
Strong expertise in dimensional modeling (Kimball)
Design and implement star schemas (Fact and Dimension tables) to support enterprise analytical, Business Intelligence (BI), and reporting requirements with high performance and query efficiency
Define and model Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), with an emphasis on SCD Type 2, to accurately capture and preserve the full historical context of dimension attributes (e.g., customer addresses, product categories) over time
Experience with optimizing security models around data access and authorization with Snowflake Cloud DW and AWS
In-depth knowledge of Snowflake architecture to create performance tuning and optimized data pipelines, query, and storage solutions
Working Knowledge with ETL tools such as Matillion
Understanding relational and big data models to both store and access data from data visualization and other query tools
A total of 4+ years of relevant experience in a multi-platform environment, including, but not limited to database development
Knowledge and experience in a data warehouse environment with knowledge of data architecture patterns
5+ years in data architecture, data modeling, or enterprise analytics
