Responsibilities

Ensure team commitment to safety and environmental compliance in all aspects of work
Supervise internal and external Project Development Project Managers, providing leadership and direction to deliver successful projects aligned with FirstEnergy’s goals
Direct and monitor daily activities to ensure accurate project plans within C&DS source systems
Develop staff and contribute to departmental strategy and goals
Foster a positive work environment that supports individual growth and adheres to FirstEnergy’s Rules of Engagement and Code of Ethics
Monitor employee satisfaction, manage performance, and support career development
Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, including the Manual of Operations, FE Construction Standards, and Accident Prevention Handbook
Communicate department and project goals to regional and corporate leadership
Conduct project status meetings and ensure challenge meetings, peer reviews, and variance analysis sessions occur
Work with Portfolio Management to align projects with the 5-Year Portfolio Investment Plan
Partner with Supply Chain for timely material delivery
Collaborate with Construction Management to ensure constructability and develop accurate schedules
Coordinate with financial and controls teams to support risk reviews and accurate forecasting
Review and approve project change requests
Manage escalation of issues and risks
Identify and resolve concerns related to scope changes, financial variances, and delays, reporting updates to Transmission Leadership
Seek opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen client relationships
Participate in FirstEnergy’s storm process as needed

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Construction Management or related field. Consideration will be given to applicants having extensive multi-disciplined technical and operational background in lieu of a college degree
Must have minimum of 5 years' experience in project organization with background in engineering, finance, project management, construction, or project controls
Strong knowledge of project management concepts and processes
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical ability and sound judgment for accurate decision-making
Highly motivated, enthusiastic leader who can work independently and drive positive workforce change and process improvement
Active thinker and collaborative team player who challenges constructively and adapts to change
Results-oriented, willing to work extra hours, and travel as required

Preferred

Experience with project management tools such scheduling and forecasting software is preferred
Detailed project controls experience is a definite plus
