INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I
City and County of Honolulu is seeking to fill a vacant Information Technology (IT) Specialist I position. The role involves conducting evaluations of user agency needs for personal computers and automated office equipment, as well as assisting in the training of agency staff on their functions and use.

Responsibilities
Conduct evaluations of user needs for personal computers and automated office equipment
Assist in the training of agency staff on the functions and use of personal computers, selected software, and other automated office equipment
Assist in planning and conducting system surveys of departmental functions to determine the feasibility of applying text/word, digital scanning, and/or other office automation methodologies
Assist in studies to obtain factual, historical, and statistical data relating to work flow, work measurement, time distribution, organizational and functional relationships and other types of data
Assist in conducting overall technical training and support for all supported hardware and software
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in computer science, public or business administration, accounting, mathematics or a related field
One (1) year of experience in the analysis of operating practices, methods and procedures, some of which shall have involved the conduct of feasibility studies and the analysis and design of information technology systems for the processing of data
Knowledge Of the principles and practices of public administration, organization, and management
Knowledge Of data processing systems analysis, design, and development
Knowledge Of the operation, characteristics, and capabilities of various types of information technology equipment
Knowledge Of research and statistical methods and techniques
Ability To gather, analyze, correlate and evaluate facts, and make sound judgments
Ability To determine feasibility of converting various manual work processes to automated technologies
Ability To review organizational structures, work flow, and operating procedures and processes and integrate findings for IT processing purposes
Ability To prepare clear and concise reports and guidelines
Ability To work cooperatively with others
Preferred
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or MIS from an accredited four-year college or university may be substituted for six months of experience in the analysis of operating practices, methods, and procedures
A Master's degree in Computer Science or MIS from an accredited four-year college or university may be substituted for one year of experience in the analysis of operating practices, methods, and procedures
