Responsibilities

Issues RMA number when requested by customers for product returns
Adapts to varied conditions based on how products return from the field
Inducts products and creates CRG sales order
Verifies assemblies conform to product specifications. Consults with engineering, manufacturing engineering and quality engineering as required
Interprets blueprints, engineering orders, assembly routes, test specifications, service bulletins, customer requirements, and quality directives
Responsible for the entire paperwork packaging of the unit
Perform complex inspection on detailed machined parts using a wide variety of measuring instruments to determine acceptability or rejections of parts and/or parts finish
Read complex blueprints including complex geometric tolerances and dimensions
Adapt and develop inspection set-ups to check sample parts, forgings and castings. Check tool and jig layouts
Perform first article and envelope inspection, source inspections and/or semi-complex surface plate set-ups
Interpret specifications, charts, manuals and other data to arrive at acceptance or rejection. Use advanced mathematics to convert blueprint dimension and tolerances. Work within the guidelines of drawings, schematics, blueprints, route sheets, travelers, quality directives, technical engineering specifications, customer’s requirements and military standards
Ensure quality of all products assembled for cosmetics, dimensional requirements and identification
Layout and measure hole locations and centerlines on castings, forgings and machine parts to maintain control of machining cycle during manufacture
Determine acceptance or rejection after inspecting parts, tools, instruments or x-ray film. Identify causes of defective conditions and test failures and prepare all appropriate documentation
Investigate cause of customer return failures. Perform inspections to applicable specifications within assembly, test and shipping departments. Assist customer/government source inspectors as necessary
Maintain accurate and precise written inspection records. Properly identify and segregate non-conforming material
Provide technical support training to other areas in measurement of prototypes and also provide advice on measuring technique
Maintain accurate and up-to-date acceptance and rejection records and/or certifications systems as required by the applicable specifications
Determine acceptance or rejection after inspection and/or calibration of parts, tools, instruments or x-ray film. Identify defective conditions and test failures and prepare all appropriate documentation and/or calibration history
Must maintain the highest degree of customer service, quality, productivity, throughput, dependability, safety, cost reduction, a clean and organized work environment and willing to accept change. Must exhibit team cooperative spirit through assistance to others and knowledge sharing
Actively participate in department problem solving, lean events and high performance teams
Actively maintain 5S in the department
Serve as a resource to other team members and assist in training and development efforts
Responsible for continuous learning or education required to maintain proficiency in job skills and job knowledge
May travel to the supper to research, identify and repair product failures
Other duties as required to assist the team leader

Required

High School Diploma or GED
Six (6) or more years advanced geometric experience performing complex inspections
Knowledge of aerospace products, specifications and requirements desired
Advanced geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Proficiency in reading and understanding complex blueprints, route sheets, test specifications, customer's specifications and internal drawings and procedures
Possess working knowledge of shop mathematics including trigonometry
Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Must possess effective problem solving skills and capabilities
Visual inspection skills required including the ability to distinguish between colors and pass a visual acuity test
Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player
May be required to be certified as a Level II Nondestructive Test Inspector in two or more disciplines. Certification must be in accordance with MIL-STD-410 and PES1-29
Knowledge of applicable military standards or specifications required
May be required to lift up to 50 lbs
Must be able to pass current Solder Inspection Certification per Division/Site standards (or is already a certified solder inspector)
Must enter into and meet the requirements of the site's FAA/DOT Random Drug and Alcohol Program for covered employees who inspect safety sensitive products
Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to favorably pass a visual acuity exam (which includes far vision, near vision and color perception)
Must be willing and able to work with customer auditors and source inspectors
Will be responsible for managing Final Inspection record control

Preferred

Preferred experience of CMM operations, background in dimensioning and tolerancing per ANSI Y 14.5
