INSPECTOR-ENGINEERING SERVICES

NEOGOV is seeking an Inspector for Engineering Services in the City of Auburn, AL. This role is responsible for the inspection and acceptance of city infrastructure, including water lines, sewer lines, storm drains, and new street construction.

Responsibilities

Inspects and tests new and existing water lines
Inspects new and existing sewer lines and manholes
Inspects storm drains
Inspects new street construction
Performs various other inspection duties
Performs other related job duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) to three (3) years' experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Possession of or ability to readily obtain Grade I Water Certification within one year
Possession of or ability to readily obtain QCI Certification within one year
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, City ordinances, and department policies and procedures
Knowledge of civil engineering practices
Knowledge of City geography and road systems
Knowledge of various measurement and other tools used in the inspection process
Knowledge of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices
Knowledge of work zone safety principles
Knowledge of local government operations, policies and plans, and modern office practices and procedures
Skill in reading and interpreting maps, plans, and blueprints
Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
Skill in the operation of job-related testing equipment
Skill in performing mathematical calculations
Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing
Ability to meet and deal with employees and the public in an effective and courteous manner
Ability to get along with others, and work effectively with the public and co-workers
Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters
Ability to use computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes
Ability to work independently, work well with others, and manage time effectively
