Responsibilities
Serve as primary engineer for process improvement recommendations, controls design, and critical troubleshooting events
Own automation scope for production, pilot, and laboratory equipment and systems
Develop new and modify existing control system programming, including:
PLC systems (Siemens preferred)
Industrial IoT integrations
Laboratory instrumentation systems (e.g., LabVIEW)
Support and maintain existing applications using Python and C++
Build and maintain SCADA and MES infrastructure for laboratory and production data collection and monitoring using Ignition
Develop controls solutions that improve equipment performance, process reliability, and data visibility
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
1+ years of hands-on automation experience in a manufacturing or process development environment
Experience writing scripted programming languages (Python preferred)
Ability to work with PLC hardware and software (Siemens preferred)
Experience writing PLC programming languages including ladder logic and structured text
Experience with database query languages such as MS SQL and PostgreSQL
Experience with HMI and/or operator interface programming and configuration

Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA platform
Experience with Ignition Perspective module
Experience with database management and administration
Experience with Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) systems
Familiarity with Lab Instrument control systems (LabVIEW)
Experience supporting applications written in Python and C++
