Legal Assistant 1 (Local Government) - Pike County C&Y
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a motivated and organized Legal Assistant 1 to support Pike County Children and Youth Services in preserving families and ensuring child safety. The role involves reviewing and processing legal documents, ensuring compliance with laws, and performing various legal secretarial tasks.

Responsibilities
Participate in the review, analysis, and processing of legal documents
Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in day-to-day operations
Review, analyze, and process various legal documents such as complaints, appeals, enforcement actions, and transactional materials
Ensure these documents comply with relevant laws and financial agreements
Develop preliminary recommendations for further action
Perform a range of legal secretarial tasks, including word processing, preparing trial materials, drafting responses to inquiries, and maintaining legal files and dockets
Enter cases into an electronic database, track deadlines, verify citations, and file documents with courts and agencies
Handle sensitive information in accordance with attorney-client privilege
Qualification
Required
Three years of progressively responsible clerical, auditing, enforcement, or investigative experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
You must pass a background investigation
A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
