PFS SUPERVISOR, PATIENT FINANCIAL SERVICES

The Patient Financial Supervisor oversees patient accounts representatives, coordinates efforts to resolve complex accounts, and ensures compassionate communication with patients during billing and follow-up activities.

Responsibilities
Overseeing and supporting the work of patient accounts representatives
Coordinating representatives’ efforts to resolve complex accounts
Ensuring representatives’ interactions with patients are consistent and compassionate during billing and follow-up activities
Monitoring all self-pay and third-party collection activities for the hospital and its affiliates
Serving as a day-to-day resource for representatives
Establishing work schedules, assigning duties, and providing instructions
Ensuring staff maintain appropriate workloads
Ensuring staff are actively and appropriately communicating with payers regarding delayed, denied, and underpaid claims
Assisting staff when accounts are challenging, problematic, and/or unresponsive as necessary; escalating critical or ongoing issues to manager
Working with PFS staff to identify overpayments and provide refunds
Working with manager to develop, review, and revise policies and procedures to maintain the efficacy of the department
Qualification
Required
Associates degree in related field (Accounting, Business, or Finance) or equivalent and experience with advanced knowledge of the healthcare industry, including three years of progressively responsible work experience in healthcare finance
Must have at least four years of progressive related experience
Must possess strong problem-solving skills and effective time management skills
Must have strong understanding of fiscal, administrative and clinical systems
Expected to read and respond timely to emails through Outlook
Must be computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office Products
Positive work ethic and attitude
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with medical information, as well as other confidential information and confirm to HIPAA regulations
Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with SGMC's policies and procedures and applicable laws
Preferred
Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR) desired
Experience with Patient Accounting Systems, Billing & Follow-up, Windows, Microsoft Office preferred. Excel is a must
