Controller
CFS is a manufacturing powerhouse seeking a highly skilled controller to lead their accounting operations and financial reporting processes. The controller will oversee core accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in complex areas and providing financial insights for operational decision-making and long-term planning.
Responsibilities
Lead daily accounting operations as the organization’s controller, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
Oversee work in progress tracking, percentage‑of‑completion accounting, and cost accounting methodologies
Direct the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes
Maintain compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and corporate accounting policies
Manage general ledger activities, financial statement preparation, and supporting schedules
Analyze cost structures, project performance, and margin trends in partnership with operations
Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls as the controller
Supervise and develop accounting team members, ensuring strong operational execution
Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
Implement process improvements to streamline workflows and enhance accuracy
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Proven experience serving as a controller or senior accounting leader
Strong expertise in: Work in progress (WIP) accounting, Percentage‑of‑completion accounting, Cost accounting
Deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
Ability to manage deadlines and supervise accounting functions
Preferred
Prior experience working as a controller in a project‑based, manufacturing, construction, or cost‑driven environment
Experience optimizing accounting systems, ERP platforms, or reporting tools
Track record of implementing process improvements as a controller
Advanced Excel skills and strong financial systems experience
