Human Resources Manager

LHH is seeking a highly skilled, people-focused Human Resources Manager to serve as the primary HR resource for employees and leadership. This role involves managing employee relations, ensuring compliance with employment laws, overseeing benefits administration, and leading full-cycle recruitment while promoting organizational culture and employee development.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary HR partner for employees and leadership, providing guidance across all HR matters
Manage and resolve employee relations issues, including concerns, conflicts, investigations, and performance-related matters, with professionalism and discretion
Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations, with a strong focus on Illinois employment law
Oversee benefits administration, leaves of absence (including FMLA and ADA accommodations), and general HR operations
Lead full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, interviewing, offer management, and onboarding
Partner with leadership on HR strategy, workforce planning, policy development, and employee engagement initiatives
Own and manage the full onboarding experience, ensuring new hires are welcomed, supported, and set up for success from offer acceptance through their initial months
Develop and continuously improve onboarding processes, including orientation, policy education, training coordination, technology and workspace readiness, and cultural integration
Collaborate with leadership and hiring managers to create structured onboarding plans aligned with role expectations and organizational culture
Lead the offboarding process to ensure a respectful, compliant, and smooth exit experience
Conduct exit interviews, analyze trends, and share insights to support retention, culture, and operational improvements
Support and coordinate training initiatives to enhance employee development and performance
Serve as a role model and culture ambassador, promoting organizational values and acting as a trusted, supportive resource for all employees

Required

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field required
Minimum of five years of progressive HR experience; prior experience functioning as an HR department of one strongly preferred
Strong working knowledge of Illinois employment law and HR compliance
Proven experience in recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations, HR compliance, and process improvement
Demonstrated ability to influence, motivate, and partner effectively with employees at all levels
Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
Proficient with HR systems and technology
Results-oriented, reliable, professional, and able to maintain confidentiality and discretion
Comfortable working in a small organization and collaborating as a hands-on team player

Preferred

Prior experience functioning as an HR department of one strongly preferred
Active involvement in SHRM or similar HR professional organizations preferred
Experience in a professional services environment a plus
