Senior Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities
Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends
Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/applications software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs
Manage technical troubleshooting projects, ensuring effective diagnosis of technical issues with equipment and experiments and the development of effective solutions
Achieve specific goals for a designated part of a research program. Involves working within established research systems
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media
Develop product specifications and design test procedures and standards
Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan
Create complex engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions
Lead major equipment rebuilds; guide planned installation of complex systems
Analyze information and specify the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters
Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards
Operate highly complex installation systems, devices, machinery and complete standard engineering assignments, solving problems by selecting appropriate engineering techniques and making relevant design recommendations
Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain it
5-10 years of experience in the design of electrical power generation, distribution and utilization systems including high voltage main and secondary substations, power distribution equipment, protective relaying and metering, electrical power generating equipment and systems, UPS and power conditioning systems, lightning and surge protection systems, motors and motor controls, indoor/outdoor lighting systems, electrical heat tracing, wiring methods and/or grounding systems
Experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring engineering projects
Preferred
Experience working on water and wastewater projects is beneficial but not required
Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit (beneficial but not required)
Solid understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC) and other electrical industry codes, standards and recommended practices is preferred
Familiarity with ETAP, SKM or other computer-assisted power study programs, and an interest or experience in performing short-circuit & protective relaying analysis and power studies is a plus
Experience working with AGi32 lighting design software
A basic understanding of instrumentation and control systems
