Responsibilities

Develop and oversee a comprehensive, integrated strategic communications plan for driving messaging across all RLM platforms, including print, digital, and electronic
Host, produce, edit, and publish video podcasts, ensuring content supports RLM messaging, audience growth, and engagement
Identify opportunities to raise the profile of the statewide organization and its affiliates through an aggressive “good news story” approach. Draft, edit, and distribute press releases at the state, regional, and affiliate levels
Draft, edit, distribute, and pitch statements, media advisories, press releases, and op-eds to relevant outlets and reporters
Draft content for the RLM website, social media, and email communications
In conjunction with the RLM President, develop messaging for time-sensitive issues, political action, public policy developments, and organizational initiatives
Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and media outlets
Pitch stories and coordinate media responses and interviews in collaboration with RLM staff and affiliates
Secure interviews for the RLM leadership and draft talking points
Prepare and support leadership, directors, and designated spokespeople for media engagement
Assess current communications tools for improvement

Required

Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or a related field
3+ years of professional experience in communications, media relations, or public affairs in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with demonstrated success placing press releases or opinion content in online media
Strong understanding of media strategy and news cycles
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and collaborate effectively with other departments
Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or high-profile issues
