Responsibilities

Cultivates a positive safety culture in assigned operations by championing Guardian Angel and Wing Man principles and philosophy. Builds individual accountability and rewards/recognition into safety approach
Ensures daily coordination between production, delivery, distribution and quality control
Directs production activities to ensure strict adherence to cost and quality standards and takes immediate corrective action when deficiencies are noted; achieves production targets as directed
Provides leadership resulting in maximum production, working closely with District Sales Manager and Transportation andamp; Logistics Manager to exceed customer expectations, ensure product quality and drive maximum profitability
Provides direction to Plant Managers to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources
Builds effective teams and develop direct reports for future opportunities
Ensures that all personnel under their supervision comply with Federal, State and local regulations
Ensures company safety rules and regulations are met through periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, personal activities and working conditions
Drives operational excellence goals and supports continuous improvement initiatives, through collaboration with the Division Operational Excellence team
Develops and nurtures empowerment in all phases of the operation
Responsible for overseeing month end inventories
Responsible for maintaining updated Hazcom and other environmental records and permits for assigned operations. Responsible for compliance and all administration related to environmental regulations. Coordinates environmental issues with Land and Environmental department
Directs the selection, training and development of production personnel - appraises performance of subordinates and takes/recommends appropriate personnel actions as necessary
Recommends management development and necessary training programs for all direct reports
Purchases or directs the purchase of supplies and equipment in accordance with company policy
Implements and reviews ongoing contracts, purchase orders, appropriations and expenditure requests
Coordinates with VP/GM on staffing needs to properly and safely operate the plants. Coordinates these same needs with the Human Resources Department with attention on labor law compliance
Assists with profit plans, CER’s, market analyses and special reports for the approval of the VP/GM
Maintains operational security
Develops an environment of empowerment and teamwork

Required

Responsible for overall direction of Aggregate Recycle Yards, Sand & Gravel and Aggregate Rail Yards operations, for the Houston District operations
Will lead and grow all aspects of aggregate production and personnel, which includes managing all aspects of safety, production, and other support functions with primary responsibility for ensuring effective execution of production performance and growth strategy
Position will be based in the Houston, TX area

Preferred

Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.E.) in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or other related discipline strongly preferred and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities
Ten (10) or more years' experience in aggregates, operations preferred
Ten (10) years' supervisory or management experience in an aggregate or similar industrial environment
Knowledgeable in MSHA regulations and compliance
Excellent knowledge of aggregate operations and the associated plants and equipment
A thorough understanding of quality control processes ASTM guidelines and specifications regarding aggregates
Understanding of ready mix and asphalt specifications and operations a plus
Sales, Inventory and Operational Planning (SI&OP) process familiarity a plus
