KGO-TV (ABC7) Sports Intern, Summer/Fall 2026

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Sports Intern for KGO-TV (ABC7) in San Francisco. This internship program offers an educational experience where interns will gain hands-on experience in sports journalism by participating in daily operations and covering top sports stories in the Bay Area.

Responsibilities

Log live games and track key trends, stats and information
Assist our sports photographers in the field and at games
Learn and ask questions from the Sports Department staff

Qualification

Sports journalism experienceMicrosoft Office proficiencySocial media for newsNewsroom editing softwareMultitasking skillsAttention to detail

Required

Experience (academic, employment, or extracurricular) within sports and/or sports journalism or media
Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
High attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
Fully available to work 20 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the San Francisco, California area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

Preferred

Major or previous coursework in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, producing, writing, editing, or related major
Experience using social media for news gathering
Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television, news and new media production; and/or television news script writing
Familiarity with newsroom editing software such as Adobe Premiere or Dalet
Junior or Senior year preferred
