Washoe County is seeking a Medicolegal Data Specialist to support the Regional Medical Examiner's Office. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to violent and drug-related crimes.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, collects, analyzes and interprets violent and drug related crime data using statistical methodology and reporting techniques in support of the objectives of the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office (WCRMEO); and performs other related duties as assigned

Required

One year of full-time experience working with law enforcement reports, toxicology reports and/or medical records to include data collection and analysis
An associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, criminology, police administration, statistics, epidemiology, public health, biology or a related field
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification
Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex medicolegal information clearly and professionally
Maintain emotional resilience and professional composure when working with sensitive, graphic, and potentially traumatic case materials
Exercise sound independent judgment and critical thinking in managing case documentation and prioritizing workflow
Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with internal departments, law enforcement agencies, healthcare providers, legal professionals, and community stakeholders
Exhibit a meticulous, detail-oriented approach with unwavering commitment to data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and discretion when interacting with grieving families and during emotionally challenging situations

Nevada PERS Retirement - Washoe County pays 100% of the PERS contribution for each benefit eligible employee.
Health, Dental, Life and Vision Insurance - Washoe County contributes 100% of the premium for each employee. Washoe County also contributes 50% of the premium for dependent coverage. Note: New employees are automatically enrolled in the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a Health Savings Account. Washoe County contributes up to $2,500 annually (based on benefit effective date and coverage tier) into the employee's Health Savings Account (HSA). Newly hired employees become eligible for health benefits after 30 days of employment.

There are no Social Security deductions (although a 1.45% deduction for Medicare is required)
Nevada does not have state or local income tax
