Lead Program Specialist - Special Events
NEOGOV is part of the City of Parkland, which is known for its dynamic team of public servants. The Lead Program Specialist - Special Events is responsible for planning, overseeing, and implementing recreation programs and special events, supervising participants of all age groups and staff.

Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, and leads a wide variety of recreational and special events activities for participants of all age groups
Oversees programming to ensure it remains within budget
Assists in the acquisition and completion of registration forms for recreation and event programs offered by the City
Performs participant registration for recreational, athletic, and special event activities and collects fees for programs and activities
Prepare newsletters, flyers, posters and other materials to promote programs and events to increase community awareness and individual participation
Sets up activities for programs and events in RecTrac software system
Coordinates and processes special event permits
Processes purchase orders, check requests, and vendor payments
Maintains records and accounts of attendance, financial charges, receipts, accident, and incident reports
Performs reporting and record keeping duties for related activities
Supervises and trains staff and volunteers when necessary
Takes photographs of activities for the City website
Assists with front desk support and Tennis Center operations
Responsible for grant requirements and reports for programs and events
Prepares all event and program documents including handbook, applications, and registration forms
Performs other related duties as required/assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate's Degree or completion of a minimum of 60 college credits
Three (3) years of related work experience
Must have a valid CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or the ability to obtain these certifications within six (6) months
Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Must possess FEMA 100, 200, and 700 certifications, or the ability to obtain within the first six (6) months of employment
Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in recreation and event programs
Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation and event activities
Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette and procedures
Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
Skill in the use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems
Skill in using computers for data entry
Skill in using computers for word processing and accounting purposes
Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to complete work assignment
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
Ability to plan and implement classes, various activities, and special events
Ability to maintain complex records and prepare technical reports
Ability to work a digital camera
Ability to maintain discipline and encourage compliance with safety rules and regulations
Ability to perform strenuous labor in all weather conditions
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, officials, and the public
